The Grande Seoul makes her maiden call in South Korea
The first
Grimaldi vessel named after a Korean city has recently sailed to South Korea
for the first time. On 28 August, the PCTC (Pure Car & Truck
Carrier) Grande Seoul was welcomed at Masan RoRo Terminal,
where a special ceremony was held to celebrate her maiden call at the port.
This was an
opportunity to celebrate the Group’s close ties with South Korea, while
highlighting Grimaldi’s continued commitment to developing its business in Asia
and working closely with customers and local partners.
The
ceremony brought together representatives from Renault Korea, Masan Terminal
management, logistics and stevedoring companies, as well as the Grimaldi Group
and Oscon Korea, its agency in the country. To mark the occasion of the vessel’s
first call, a commemorative plaque was presented by the Masan Regional Office
of Oceans and Fisheries.
The Grande
Seoul is one of 14 ammonia-ready PCTC vessels in the Group’s fleet,
all combining high transport capacity with advanced environmental performance. Deployed
on the East Asia–Northern Europe service, she will be making regular
calls at the Korean ports of Masan and Busan, strengthening maritime links
between Asia and Europe.
The
vessel’s name pays tribute to the capital of South Korea, a country that
has been an integral part of the Grimaldi Group’s global network
since 2022. For the last four years, the Group has provided regular sailings
between South Korea and Europe in both directions. Thanks to its extensive
network spanning more than 150 ports in five continents, Grimaldi is also
able to connect the Korean market with major trade routes around the world,
further strengthening the country’s role globally.
