Grimaldi provides vital support for delivery of mobile museum to Nigeria

The Grimaldi Group is supporting a unique cultural and educational initiative by providing the free sea transport of a retired city bus from Valencia to Lagos (Nigeria), where it will begin a new life serving local communities.

Donated by Valencia’s Municipal Transport Company (EMT) to the Mainel Foundation, the bus will be shipped to Lagos this August aboard the Grande Angola. On arrival, it will be transferred to the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art at Pan-Atlantic University, one of Africa's leading collections of modern and contemporary Nigerian art.

The vehicle will serve a dual purpose: first, it will be converted into a mobile museum itself, bringing Nigeria’s artistic and cultural heritage to rural communities with limited access to museums and other cultural institutions; secondly, it will transport schoolchildren from underserved communities on the outskirts of Lagos, enabling them to visit the museum and take part in educational activities.

The official handover ceremony took place on 27 July at one of Grimaldi’s loading docks in the Port of Valencia, bringing together representatives from EMT, the City of Valencia, the Mainel Foundation and the Grimaldi Group.

By providing the sea transport for the project, the Grimaldi Group is helping to give the bus a meaningful second life while supporting an initiative that promotes education, culture and social inclusion.
