BYD recognizes Grimaldi's strategic role in global vehicle logistics

In recent years, the automotive logistics industry has faced a rapidly evolving landscape marked by profound transformations and growing complexity. Geopolitical tensions, the reshaping of global trade routes, limited transport capacity and the rapid international expansion of vehicle manufacturers – particularly Chinese automakers – have further elevated the strategic importance of logistics providers, who are expected to ensure continuity, flexibility and reliability throughout the supply chain.

It is within this context that the Grimaldi Group has received recognition from BYD, one of the world's leading manufacturers of electric and new energy vehicles. During a strategic meeting at BYD's headquarters in Shenzhen (China), the Grimaldi Group was presented with a letter of appreciation, acknowledging its contribution to supporting the automaker's global growth and enabling the continuity of its logistics operations during a particularly challenging period for the market.

The letter was presented on 16 July by He Zhiqi, Executive Vice President of BYD Group and Chief Operating Officer of its Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, to Luigi Pacella Grimaldi, Grimaldi Group Automotive Intercontinental Director, at an event also attended by Ada Bu, BYD's Vehicle Logistics Global Leader, together with the company's senior executives responsible for logistics and supplier management. Also representing the Grimaldi Group was Commercial Manager Filippo Rizzi Ariani, along with Francesco Zhou and Kevin Lin, respectively, General Manager and Key Account Manager of Grimaldi Shipping Agencies Shanghai.

In the letter, BYD highlighted the Grimaldi Group's ability to respond promptly to market challenges by optimizing its services and implementing dedicated logistics solutions. Among the key achievements cited were the development of charter solutions for the European and Brazilian markets, as well as the transportation of more than 70,000 vehicles during the first half of 2026 – already exceeding the total volume handled throughout the whole of 2025.

The partnership between the Grimaldi Group and BYD, which began in 2022, has gained significant momentum in the last couple of years, supporting the automaker's rapid international expansion. Today, the Naples-based shipping group serves the Chinese manufacturer by shipping its vehicles to approximately 30 ports across five continents, further strengthening Grimaldi’s position as a strategic partner for BYD's global distribution network.

The meeting in Shenzhen also provided an opportunity to further reinforce a partnership that continues to grow, built on mutual trust, a shared vision and the ability to address market challenges together. This collaboration reflects the Grimaldi Group's ongoing commitment to supporting its customers' international growth through reliable, innovative and tailor-made maritime services in one of the most dynamic and competitive segments of the global shipping industry.
