Emanuele Grimaldi honoured for his philanthropy
Prestigious
recognition that acknowledges not only a personal journey but also a business
vision grounded in social responsibility. Emanuele Grimaldi, Managing
Director of the Grimaldi Group and President and Founder of the Grimaldi
Foundation, has been awarded the Honorary Plaque and Special Commendation for
Philanthropy by the Fondazione Giuseppe Moscati Sorrento ONLUS, a non-profit
organization which has long been committed to supporting medical research and
assisting those in need.
The honour
was conferred on 9 April at the Grand Hotel Vesuvio in Sorrento, at the opening
of “Sorrento Breathing: Update and New Trends in Respiratory Medicine”, a
leading national symposium held annually, bringing together some of Italy’s
foremost experts in the field of pneumology.
The Moscati
Foundation commended Emanuele Grimaldi on his altruistic vision of a circular
economy and his tangible commitment to alleviating the suffering of the most
vulnerable. His work has enabled many marginalized people to feel protected and
cared for, while also providing numerous charities with the tools needed to
achieve their goals.
“It’s an
honour for us to welcome Emanuele Grimaldi into our community of shared values,”
said Professor Paolo Zamparelli, President of the Moscati Foundation. “His
dedication reflects those principles of humanity and care for the suffering
that lie at the heart of our mission.”
Founded in
2007, the Grimaldi Foundation is today the largest family foundation in
Southern and Central Italy. As the philanthropic expression of the Naples-based
Grimaldi family, it operates on a non-profit basis and, over the years, has
invested approximately €40 million in more than 520 projects. It manages two
solidarity centres in Naples for families and is currently developing new
facilities focused on supporting the homeless and providing socio-healthcare
services.
In his acceptance
speech, Emanuele Grimaldi emphasized the collective value of the accolade: “This
award is not only for me, but for the Grimaldi Foundation as a whole and for everyone
working day in day out to restore dignity to groups and individuals living on
the margins, in the hope that public recognition of philanthropic action like
this will encourage more and more people to do their utmost to help others.”
Grimaldi
joins a prestigious roll of honour: previous recipients of the award include
leading figures in civic and social engagement, such as Gino Strada
(Emergency), Cardinal Domenico Battaglia of Naples, Civil Protection
Chief Fabio Ciciliano and anti-Camorra parish priest Don Maurizio
Patriciello.
