Uruguay rolls out the red carpet for the Grande Texas in Montevideo

The recent port call by the Grimaldi Group vessel Grande Texas at Montevideo was celebrated by local and national dignitaries as a highly significant occasion, once again highlighting the company’s key role in the development of maritime traffic in the region.

On 24 March, the arrival of the vessel from Taicang (Shanghai) was marked by the notable presence of leading Uruguayan authorities, highlighting the strategic importance of the Grimaldi Group’s regular operations in the country. uploaded picture

Among the institutional representatives in attendance were the Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works, Claudia Peris; the top management of ANP (Administración Nacional de Puertos), including President Pablo Genta, Vice Chairman Constante Mendiondo, Director Jorge Gandini, General Manager Andrés Nieto and Deputy Commercial Manager Elisa Kuster; and the Captain of Montevideo Port, Carlos Varela.

Also present were other prominent figures from the national maritime and logistics sector, including the National Naval Prefect, Capt. Cesar Ricciardi; the General Manager of INALOG (Uruguay’s government logistics institute), Emilio Rivero; representatives from the Merchant Navy; the Foreign Trade & Purchasing Manager of Nordex (a leading vehicle assembly company based in Uruguay), Arnoldo Petroselli; and delegations from major trade and business associations, including the Chinese-Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce, AUDACA (the national association of freight forwarders) and ACAU (the national chamber representing vehicle importers).

The participation of numerous institutional authorities, industry operators and local media representatives underscored the value of the Grimaldi Group’s long-standing presence in Montevideo, where the company has been operating for over 25 years, making a tangible contribution to the development of ro-ro traffic and to strengthening the port’s role as a logistics hub not only for Uruguay but also for cargo bound for Paraguay.
