BYD and Automar: logistics partnership in Gioia Tauro to serve Central and Southern Italy
At the beginning of February, Chinese vehicle
manufacturer BYD announced the operational launch of a new phase of its Italian
logistics organization, identifying Gioia Tauro as a strategic hub for the
management and distribution of vehicles across Central and Southern Italy,
thanks to its collaboration with Automar S.p.A., a Grimaldi Group subsidiary
specialized in automotive logistics.
This decision reflects a clear strategy aimed
at optimizing logistics flows by leveraging the port’s strategic location and
its capacity to handle significant volumes, while ensuring speed, flexibility
and operational continuity.
The adopted operating model provides for
integrated management combining maritime transport, rail connections and road
distribution, with a focus on intermodality and efficiency.
“Our growth requires a solid and widespread
supply chain,” stated Alessandro Grosso, BYD and DENZA Country
Manager for Italy. “This partnership represents an important step toward
improving service to our network and enhancing distribution. Our collaboration
with Automar allows us to rely on specific expertise in vehicle handling.”
In Gioia Tauro, Automar S.p.A. operates through
a platform dedicated to automotive logistics and vehicle handling, fully in line
with the quality and operational standards required by BYD.
“We would like to express our gratitude to
BYD for choosing Gioia Tauro and Automar as the logistics hub for the
distribution of its vehicles,” commented Automar S.p.A. Chairman Costantino
Baldissara. “Collaborating with a successful and fast-growing brand like
BYD confirms the value of the work we’ve carried out and the strategic role of
our terminal.”
