Minoan Lines named Passenger Line of the Year at the Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards 2025

In a special ceremony held on 5 December at the Athenaeum InterContinental Hotel in Athens, Minoan Lines was named Passenger Line of the Year at the Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards 2025.

This honour, bestowed by Lloyd’s List – one of the world’s longest running and most iconic journals – ranks among the most esteemed and prestigious international distinctions in the maritime sector. With a continuous presence in the industry spanning more than fifty years, Minoan Lines was recognized by the Awards Committee as a leading company in Greek passenger shipping, which stands out for its reliability, innovation and strong sense of social responsibility. The accolade acknowledges the company’s consistently high-quality services, which provide an outstanding travel experience, as well as its decision to introduce the island of Milos as a year-round daily destination on the route between Piraeus and Heraklion. It is also recognition of Minoan Lines’ recent strategic investment initiatives, notably the construction of two new-generation vessels designed to minimize environmental impact, to be deployed on the Piraeus–Milos–Heraklion route, as well as its active involvement—through a joint venture with Grimaldi Euromed—in the operation and further development of the ports of Igoumenitsa and Heraklion. Last but not least, the award is also an expression of appreciation of the company’s long-standing and wide-ranging commitment to social contribution activities.

In his acceptance speech, Minoan Lines’ Managing Director Loukas Sigalas said, “It is a profound honour to accept this award. I would like to thank the members of the Committee for this exceptional distinction, which formally acknowledges the company's commitment to sustainable performance, dedicated efforts, social responsibility and notable achievements. I wish to dedicate it to the Grimaldi family, and in particular to our President, Emanuele Grimaldi, for the unwavering confidence in the company’s potential; to our employees – both shipboard and shoreside – for their firm dedication to providing a top quality travel experience; and to our customers, passengers and transport partners for their continued trust and support. The future of the company is exceptionally promising, with the addition of two new, wholly owned, state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly passenger/ro-ro vessels, set to join the fleet, on the Piraeus-Milos-Heraklion route in the coming years, alongside our strategic involvement in the management and development of the ports of Igoumenitsa and Heraklion.”
