Glory renewed: the Grimaldi Group wins second Panda D'Oro Award for Sustainability
On 14 June, on an evening celebrating Italian
excellence in China, the Grimaldi Group once again achieved a moment of
brilliance. At the 14th Panda D'Oro Awards Gala, celebrated at the W
Hotel on the Bund in Shanghai, the Company distinguished itself among a host of
outstanding enterprises, securing the prestigious "Sustainability
Award" for its remarkable contribution and commitment to green
shipping.
This is the second consecutive year that Grimaldi has
been recognized at this premier business ceremony and also constitutes the
highest endorsement of its long-term, sustainable development strategy.
A premier annual event for the Sino-Italian business
community
Hosted by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC),
this year’s Panda D'Oro Awards were strongly supported by the Italian Embassy in
the P.R.C., the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, and the Italian Trade
Agency (ITA/ICE). The most eagerly anticipated event on the Sino-Italian
business calendar, the 2025 gala was exceptionally grand, gathering over 700
business leaders, government officials, and friends from both the Italian and
Chinese communities. With a record 60 companies competing for the awards, each
accolade presented was a true testament to excellence.
The ceremony was held against the significant backdrop
of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and
China, celebrating the two nations’ deep economic and cultural ties. Massimo
Ambrosetti, Ambassador of Italy to the P.R.C., and Lorenzo Riccardi,
Chairman of the CICC, were both present to deliver remarks and witness this
moment of glory for the outstanding enterprises of both countries.
Sustainability: from corporate responsibility to
industry leadership
Receiving the "Sustainability Award"
resonates deeply with the core values of the Grimaldi Group. In an era where
global trade increasingly prioritizes environmental protection and social
responsibility, Grimaldi has consistently made sustainability a cornerstone of
its mission. The Group continuously invests in a greener fleet, optimizes
shipping routes to reduce carbon emissions, and actively explores innovative
solutions such as the use of alternative fuels, striving to lead the global
shipping industry toward a cleaner, greener future.
This achievement is a credit to the Group's strategic
foresight and investments in China, including the launch of new shipping
routes, the deployment of an increasingly modern fleet, and also the
establishment of a local agency in Shanghai in 2023. Led by General Manager Francesco
Zhou, the Grimaldi China team has resolutely implemented the Group's
sustainability vision in the Chinese market. This award is not just recognition
of past efforts but also a powerful driver for the Group’s journey ahead.
Looking forward: building a Green Maritime Silk Road
To be honoured on the Panda D'Oro stage for two years in
a row is a great privilege that carries a significant responsibility. Looking
to the future, the Grimaldi Group will use this award as a new starting point
to further deepen its presence in the Chinese market with renewed passion and
practical action. The Italian shipping group aims to be more than just a
logistics bridge between Asia and the rest of the world; it is committed to
being a builder and pioneer of a "Green Maritime Silk Road",
contributing greater strength to the sustainable development of global trade.
“We extend our sincerest gratitude to the
China-Italy Chamber of Commerce for this invaluable recognition and for their support,”
commented Francesco Zhou. “Our heartfelt thanks also go to our customers,
partners and all the friends who have supported Grimaldi China's growth. We
will remain true to our mission and continue to forge ahead, writing a new
chapter of success for economic prosperity and cultural exchange between Italy
and China.”
