Three "Eco" vessels between Italy, Greece and Turkey
The
Grimaldi Group continues to invest in ro-ro links between Italy, Greece and
Turkey: on 24 March, a third “Eco” vessel joined her sister ships Eco Malta
and Eco Mediterranea already operating on the Trieste – Patras – Ambarli
– Gemlik route. The new addition to the fleet is the Eco Salerno, one of
fourteen green giants belonging to the GG5G class, featuring unprecedented
transport capacity and environmental performance.
The
introduction of the Eco Salerno on this line follows the strongly
positive market response to the launch and steady enhancement of this Grimaldi
Group service. With the deployment of the three vessels, each capable of
carrying over 500 trailers, boasting a 50% reduction in carbon footprint at sea
and zero emissions in port, the Naples-based shipping company now offers even
more space and quality for this new – yet already vital – maritime corridor.
All of this comes with the guarantee of regular and frequent connections: two
weekly departures in both directions between Ambarli and Trieste, as well as
between Gemlik and Bari or Patras, while between Gemlik and Trieste there are as
many as three sailings a week in both directions.
