Minoan Lines honoured for its support for "The Smile of the Child"
During the
celebration of 29 years of impactful action and contribution to Greek society
by "The Smile of the Child", which took place in Athens on 7th
November, Minoan Lines was recognized for its unwavering support for the
remarkable work of this non-profit organization. A member of the Grimaldi Group
and a leading name in Greek passenger shipping, Minoan Lines has been a
steadfast partner in the organization’s mission, serving as its exclusive
carrier to and from Crete.
"Our
joy is twofold: it lies both in the honour of this recognition and in the
satisfaction of knowing we have contributed meaningfully over the years to the
exceptional work of ‘The Smile of the Child’," said Minoan Lines CEO
Lucas Sigalas, upon accepting the award from the charity’s President Kostas
Yiannopoulos.
In 2024
alone, Minoan Lines has
facilitated round-trip travel from Heraklion to Piraeus for over 40 families,
along with the organization’s staff and vehicles. This crucial logistical
support has enabled
"The Smile of the Child" to undertake significant initiatives,
including a month-long program of preventive medical and dental care across all
regions of Crete, as well as three major celebrations in Heraklion, Chania, and
Rethymno, the proceeds of which covered and continue to cover the medical needs
of the island’s children.
This
recognition underscores Minoan Lines' role not only as a leader in maritime
transport but also as a vital contributor to community well-being, reflecting
its commitment to making a meaningful difference to the lives of those in need.
