From Barcelona to Jeddah, 800 vehicles for the 2025 Dakar Rally
Once again this
year, hundreds of vehicles were shipped from the port of Barcelona for the
Dakar Rally. The 47th edition of this internationally renowned off-road
endurance event will take place from 3 to 17 January 2025 in Saudi Arabia. Shipment
was entrusted to the Grimaldi Group, which scheduled special calls in Barcelona
as part of its regular route between Europe and the Red Sea.
On the
outbound journey, the cargo was divided between the multipurpose ro-ro vessels Grande
Senegal and Grande Atlantico, which departed from the Catalan port
on 4 and 5 December, respectively. Approximately 800 units — comprising cars,
service trucks, trailers, buses, campers, and containers — were delivered to
Jeddah, the Saudi port from which they will also return after the rally.
The 2025
edition of the Dakar Rally will cover a total distance of 7,700 km (of which
5,100 km will be timed), starting from the town of Bisha and ending in
Shubaytah.
