Logistics and education grow together in Lagos thanks to PTML
In those areas in which it is present with its
transport and logistics services, the Grimaldi Group has always brought
solidarity as well as business. In the last 15 years in Lagos, the affiliate Ports and Terminal Multiservices Ltd (PTML) has
built and developed the largest ro-ro multipurpose terminal in Nigeria.
Since 2019 the terminal has extended to cover an area of over 80,000 m2
located next to the Mile 2 School Complex. From the outset, PTML offered its
support to this educational establishment by providing it with infrastructure
and assistance for teachers and pupils.
Several new constructions were officially
inaugurated on 13 May in the presence of a number of local authorities. The new
infrastructure includes a 500-metre road facilitating access to all of the
schools in the complex and a building with 10 classrooms fully equipped with
desks, chairs, computers, LCD televisions and a 50 KVA transformer enhancing
power supply. In addition, there is a borehole coupled with a water treatment
plant to ensure access to clean water.
The opening ceremony was presided over by the
Commissioner of the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu
Alli-Balogun, and the Executive Chairman of the Amuwo Odofin Local
Government, Valentine Buraimoh.
The value of the projects recently funded by PTML totals over $2 million. “As an integral part of the Grimaldi Group, PTML is deeply committed to social responsibility, with a particular focus on education and environmental stewardship,” explained Ascanio Russo, Managing Director of the Nigerian terminal company. “This commitment is pivotal to our corporate ethos and evident in the extensive investments we have made here at Mile 2. The substantial improvements we have achieved in terms of infrastructure, accessibility and security underscore our dedication to creating a positive impact on both the community and the environment.”
