100-plus electric buses from China to Thessaloniki on the Grande Torino

On the afternoon of 3 March, in the port of Thessaloniki, 110 electric buses were disembarked from the Grimaldi Group’s Grande Torino, a modern PCTC (Pure Car & Truck Carrier) that operates regularly between the Far East and the Mediterranean. The call in the Greek port was a one-off arranged to meet the needs of the Organization of Urban Transportation of Thessaloniki, which will soon be using these new vehicles to improve public transport in the city.

The buses’ journey had begun just under a month earlier from the port of Lianyungang, in the Chinese province of Jiangsu. Together with related equipment, including seven mobile power banks for their charging, they were smoothly disembarked in a dedicated area within the port of Thessaloniki, to allow for the necessary customs clearance and registration prior to delivery to the Thessaloniki Transport Authority.
